Late 19th Century Marquetry Vide Poche
A French parquetry vide-poche, the finely carved and pierced end supports terminating in sledge feet, overall with cross-banded parquetry decoration.
c. 1890
The vide-poche table often made on the continent and are known so for their recessed surfaces and dish-like design. Made in a number of woods such as walnut, cherrywood and mahogany were used to accommodate keys, card cases etc. Made from the late 18th century onwards, these remarkable little tables are always in popular demand.
