Early 19th century mahogany press of slightly inverted breakfront form
A handsome early 19th century mahogany press of slightly inverted breakfront form. The pilasters to the supports reeded. Left and right hand book matched timbers to the well figured doors. Overall of exceptional quality. The interior of the top with two slides.
c. 1810 - 1815
Known as a Gentleman's wardrobe or Press. A double-heightened piece, in fashion before the wardrobe with hanging space. The lower section consists usually of three long, or two long and two half drawers. The upper section has blind-panelled cupboard doors, with the interior fitted with three or more sliding open drawers.
